The vessel is a round bilge, semi-displacement, high speed vessel with a Steel hull and Aluminium superstructure. Built to Lloyds Register acceptance at the Vosper Thornycroft yard in 1993, the vessel was initially employed by Her Majesty’s’ Revenue and Customs, then was transferred to the UK Border force until 2013 when it was de-commissioned. The current owner purchased the vessel around February 2018. The vessel has on board catalogued original drawings, manuals and training information. The main propulsion is from 2 x CAT 3516B engines each driving a single shaft through a Reintjes V-Drive gearbox with a 5 bladed, fixed pitch propeller, with the shafting supported externally by A-brackets. The main engines originally had a trolling system, electronically controlling through a slipping gearbox allowing the engine speed to be up 40% of the rated speed. In addition, there is a Loitering engine, a Perkins CV8M600TI driving a Hamilton PP jet, Model 210, driven from the aft shaft, a forward shaft provides the hydraulic power take off for the retractable Vosper VT40R bow thruster. Steering was achieved by linked twin rudders with 3 operating positions at the Wheelhouse, Flybridge and an emergency position in the aft peak space. The vessel also has two non-retractable stabiliser fins. Throughout the vessel identification tags for mechanical and electrical systems are evident and numerous, aiding in the operation of the vessel. Vessel is not currently classed and will require a full certification survey in order to comply with applicable regulations. It is planned to have initial sea trials by the end of August 2018.
